More about the workshop and how to prepare:
In this workshop, you’ll get to punch on a 30x30cm stretched tweed fabric with an Amy Oxford Punch Needle tool and a wide selection of chunky yarn. You will learn design considerations when planning for punch needle art, how to prepare a no-slip embroidery hoop and stretch your fabric, how to use the punch needle tool and get tips on how to create different effects. Draw out your own custom design (or create an abstract freeform piece) and then use different colours and thicknesses of yarn to punch needle it. You can keep your finished piece in its hoop to display it on your wall, but we will also talk you through how to turn it into something else - a cushion, a zipped pouch, a bag.... there are so many possibilities!
IN PREPARATION you can start planning your design. You can just bring some examples and references on your phone. SIMPLICITY is key, so keep your design simple and geometric.
CANCELLATION POLICY: If you are unable to attend the workshop on Friday, please let me know ASAP. You will be able to transfer your ticket to another party for the specific date of booking (in this case Friday the 30th April 2021). No cash refunds will be made if you cannot attend.
A NOTE ON SAFETY AND HYGIENE: All measurements and precautions will be taken to ensure everyone's safety and comfort on Saturday. The venue is big with ample space between seats. Enough hand sanitizer will be available, and you won't have to share materials. You will be asked to sign an indemnity on arrival declaring that you have not been in direct contact with a confirmed COVID patient and that City Sessions will not be held liable if attendees contract COVID as a result of attending the workshop.
